Veteran Recreation Ohio is proud to be working alongside the talented creators of Lines of Hope—a new documentary currently in pre-production that shines a light on the resilience of Columbus, Ohio area veterans through the art of fly fishing.

With support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, this film celebrates renewal and connection. It weaves together powerful personal stories, showing how nature, craftsmanship, and shared experiences on the water can help restore purpose and peace.

Directed by Brett Langolf, produced by Andy Stiebler, and captured through the lens of award-winning cinematographer Andrew Jowett, Lines of Hope promises to be more than a film—it’s a movement of compassion and storytelling. We’re honored to support a project that aligns so closely with our mission: empowering veterans through meaningful outdoor experiences.

Follow the journey and witness how lines cast into water can become lifelines of hope.

To understand a need, one must be able to comprehend it. The documentary, Lines of Hope (currently being made) helps one to understand both the need and the way in which fly fishing has positively impacted our Ohio Veterans. It is also emblematic of the general benefits of structured outdoor recreation in restoring that sense of purpose and peace. This film celebrates renewal and connection, something we should always strive for.
