Big things are on the horizon here in Central Ohio—and they’re all for our veterans.
At Veteran Recreation Ohio, we’re proud to announce that plans are underway for several exciting programs and partnerships focused on one mission: reconnecting our veterans with the outdoors and each other. While we’re still in the early stages, the vision is clear. Central Ohio is about to become a hub for meaningful, healing, and purpose-driven outdoor recreation built specifically for those who’ve served.
We know the power of fresh air, quiet woods, casting lines, and shared stories around a campfire. And we know the impact that time in nature can have on mental health, connection, and overall well-being. That’s why we’re investing our time and resources into building something lasting—right here in Columbus.
Whether it's fly fishing workshops, guided hikes, hunting weekends, survival skills clinics, or community cleanup events followed by a good old-fashioned cookout, what’s coming will be more than just “activities.” It will be purpose with a place to land. It will be a space where veterans of all backgrounds can come together, breathe deep, learn something new, and find a piece of themselves again—surrounded by nature and community.
We’re laying the groundwork now. We’re meeting with partners, building support, and mapping out opportunities across parks, rivers, forests, and trails throughout the region. Every detail is being shaped with veterans in mind.
So stay tuned. Great things are coming to Columbus, Ohio—and this is just the beginning.
